Athlete & Parent Code of Conduct Form

Each parent/guardian is required to electronically sign and submit this Code of Conduct agreement prior to each child’s participation in CYO. By electronically signing and submitting this Code of Conduct agreement the parent/guardian acknowledges that they have reviewed the Athlete Code of Conduct with their child. 

ATHLETE CODE OF CONDUCT

1. I understand that participating in sports is a privilege and an opportunity to learn and have fun.

2. I understand that my actions both positive and negative are viewed as a reflection of CYO and my parish. Proper behavior is required in both practices and athletic contests.

3. I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow athletes, coaches, officials, and parents at every game and practice by demonstrating good sportsmanship myself. 

4. I will not make derogatory comments or gestures, or use foul language towards fellow athletes, coaches, officials and parents, either during CYO or outside of CYO events, including CYO related comments on social media.

5. I will treat my coaches, other players, officials, and fans with respect regardless of differences or abilities.

6. I will not intentionally cause physical, mental, or emotional harm to another athlete at any time.

7. I understand the value of my opponents in order to compete in sports and I will graciously congratulate them for a well-played game.  

8. I will respect the game officials and accept their decisions. I understand it is not acceptable, or my place as an athlete, to criticize or dispute their decisions.

PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Remember that the players are youth and are playing for their enjoyment, not yours.​​​​

2. I will provide positive support and encouragement to our student athletes and their team, the opposing team and all coaches.

3. I will set the right example and promote good sportsmanship through my own behavior and attitude at all athletic practices and games.

4. I will be a role model by positively supporting both teams and not shouting instructions or criticism to the players, coaches, or officials.

5. I will display control and respect the authority of and decisions made by officials.

6. I will refrain from interfering with the coach and respect the coach’s authority and responsibilities during practices and games.

7. I will make no derogatory comments or gestures (including making noises to distract) to players, coaches, or fans of your own or the other team.

8. I will not threaten either verbally or physically, any coach, player, official or spectator.

9. I will remember that coaches and parents/guardians set the example for the behavior of our children.

10. I will be responsible for the conduct of other family members or my guests who attend games.

11. I will ensure that my child is healthy enough prior to allowing them to participate in any practices or games for both their safety and the safety of others they come in contact with.
